The Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia has canceled their 2015 Biplanes & Triplanes airshow scheduled for October 3-4.
The cancellation is due to a large tropical depression from the caribbean that is expected to be positioned off the Virginia coast at the same time the event was to be held. The conditions are expected to bring a week of rain and strong winds from the north that would result in crosswinds along the museum’s grass runway and prevent flights of WW1 aircraft.
The Mid-Atlantic Dawn Patrol has also cancelled this weekend’s RC meet at the museum.
The museum reports that there are “no foreseeable alternative dates to reschedule the event this year” but plans to continue the annual WW1 show in 2016.
The museum is offering ticketholders a full refund or the option to trade their tickets in for the 2016 Warbirds Over the Beach Airshow on May 21 and 22. Those wishing to take advantage of these options are asked to either stop by the museum or call (757) 721-7767.
